Choices DLC Coming Soon

Overview

Hey, everyone. It's been another few months without any updates, so sorry for that. There's been a lot going on in the recent months, which has made it difficult for us to accomplish much. Fortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has not really affected us negatively, but it has obviously changed the world quite a bit in a short amount of time, so we've had to adapt accordingly.

Detective Butler DLC Release Date Changed

In the previous blog post we announced ...

Plans for a New Decade

Overview

As you might've noticed, updates have been quite slow recently. It's been hard to find time to make any progress, but I really do work on things every day. I should get better at posting updates and getting the word out, but I am doing everything I can to keep this train running without a hitch.

General Updates

So, I've gone back and added a few of the Patreon posts. I'd actually been posting there for the past few months, but this place looks too barren. ...

Getting Closer

Once again, progress is kind of slow due to my day job, but fortunately I am still getting some pretty significant things accomplished. Here's a quick rundown:

  • Snowball Saves Christmas has returned to Google Play and is now also available on the Amazon App Store!

  • Currently working on the Detective Butler DLC. I recovered a bunch of old documents and photos from way back in 2013 and that gives me a lot of material for new content. I will probably make a ...

Slow Progress

Currently, we have gotten the level editor to a point where it is being used to make levels, and our intent is to make some sort of playable prototype of Witch Doctor Kaneko. Hopefully, we can release something soon (within the next month or so).

Earlier this month, I finally started uploading video tutorials. If you want to learn how to code, check out Kinjo Codes on YouTube. I might even try other video content eventually, once I get better. My intent right now is to just get stuff ...

Level Editor is Ready

During the month of August, we worked mainly on improving and finishing Witch Doctor Kaneko's level editor. We added buttons to place doors and ladders, and can switch between different grids and tilesets for a variety of sprites and placements.

We also fixed some memory leaks and learned how to optimize SDL's textures for minimal memory consumption. While our previous build in Unity required nearly 250 MB of RAM, our custom C++ engine now only requires a little less than 50 MB! That ...

Too Long Without A Blog Post

Overview

Well, it's been way too long without a blog post, so first I'll have to apologize for that. But the good news is that we have a lot of progress to share, and things are definitely heading in the right direction! A lot of things have happened so far in 2019, so let's get started talking about them!

General Updates

Only about one month after the previous blog post was published, I accepted a full-time programming job. It's been difficult (impossible) trying ...

Plans For 2019

Overview

Usually at the end of every year we do a reflection post to think about what we have accomplished and where we are going. But unfortunately, I never got around to it (sorry!), so you'll have to settle for a somewhat late post. We've got a lot to cover, so let's dive into it!

Snowball Saves Summer

For most of 2018 we worked on the game Snowball Saves Summer. Initially I didn't really want to ...

Snowball Saves Summer Released

Overview

It's been a while since the last blog post, but that doesn't mean we've been sitting around doing nothing. We've actually been posting weekly updates on our Patreon and daily updates on our Twitch channel. So check those out if you want some more frequent news... or just stick around here and wait for the important stuff!

As you might have guessed from the title, Snowball Saves Summer is released! We worked all summer on that game (a little bit of Spring and almost ...
